My name is Brian Fitzpatrick, but most people call me Fitz. I'm from New Orleans, but I've made Chicago my home, despite a tempting three-year stint in Rome.
Marie Fitzpatrick is my wife. She's very patient.
I've been mucking about with computers in one way or another for 30 years, but I still can't get a computer to answer the question of "Where are my socks?".
While I'm a Software Engineer at heart, I'm currently the Chicago Engineering Manager for Google where I'm building the Chicago engineering office, working on the Open Source team, and (joyfully!) being pulled in about a million directions at once.
I've also contributed to Open Source Software like Subversion and cvs2svn in my spare time in addition to writing The Subversion Book with my good friends Mike and Ben. I'm also honored to be a member of The Apache Software Foundation.
I love to eat. I have an incomplete list of Chicago restaurants that Marie and I like to frequent as well as a writeup on the most incredible meal I've ever eaten.
I can be reached at fitz@red-bean.com. This has been my email address for about 10 years now, and at last count it gets over 500 spam mails a day (!). Thank goodness for Gmail's spam filtering.
Plaintext email is fine, but if you're a crypto/privacy geek, you can send me encrypted messages using my public key.
