Well, the thing is, it's so trivial, I'm not sure it adds much.  What
we're lacking here is not so much an appropriate test as the habit of
timing Guile before we commit a change.

I'm quite curious, but I'm also quite tired, and this is something
empty-brained enough that I could do it while sleepy.  So I'll give
it a shot.
