FWIW, lisp.tech.coop was slashdotted a while back when PCL came out, and 
   it had no problems keeping up with the load. While the total hit 
count was only about 100,000 hits (over about 12 hours), there were some 
peak times where the load was fairly high.

I didn't even notice any performance impact.

lisp.tech.coop runs an ancient SBCL and ancient araneida behind pound, 
and that is the setup i usually use for all my lisp web apps.
