I'll keep that in mind.  Is there a way to handle this in code so that my site
doesn't go down in the meantime?

Unfortunately, an incident like this one is bringing pressure to bear on me to
drop lisp and move to apache/script-based solutions.  I *can't* let that
happen.  :-/
