Ajuda para tradução: "well-placed prods"

Estou precisando de ajuda pra traduzir essa expressão: "well-placed
prods". Pedi ajuda na lista do livro em Inglês e recebi algumas
respostas que me permitiram entender o significado dessa expressão,
mas não consigo colocar em uma forma "normal", mais natural no
Português. Se alguém puder ajudar, a expressão tá no arquivo
src/en/ch01.xml, linha 108, revisão 2000. Encaminho abaixo as

I believe "well-placed prods" could be replaced by "highly effective
encouragement to proceed toward a particular goal" (think of a milder
version of the cattle prod) and still maintain its original, though
still less-than-perfectly-clear, meaning.
