Date: Fri, 2 May 1997 13:31:49 +0200 (MET DST) From: Arno Hollosi Subject: Date format - statistics I had a look at my SGF game archive which consists of about 2000 games. About 400 games are IGS/NNGS games the rest are pro games. The pro games were downloaded from the FTP Go archive and partially from Jan van der Steen's pages. Of those 2000 games about two thirds had a correct date field. (if you look at the pro games only: still more than half). One third (about 600 games) had incorrect date fields. Of these 600 games SGFC (the syntax checker) was able to correct about 500 games i.e. ~85%. In 7 cases SGFC converted the date wrong, i.e. information was lost. So of 2000 games only 5% couldn't be made ISO compliant. That's quite the opposite of David's figures :) If someone has enough time left, he could extract the DT,RE and maybe TM,HA and KM values out of his game-archive and send them to me. (A simple grep output would do - I'll extract the field values myself). As the Correct_Date function of SGFC is quite smart already I'm going to improve the parsing of RE (and maybe TM) now. /Arno P.S: I used SGFC V0.6 which will be uploaded to my web site soon.
