I think it's a nice idea. I've forwarded your bug to the upstream author
of cvs2cl, Karl Fogel <kfogel@red-bean.com>, and I hope he'll respond soon.

If he implements this feature you'll get informed when a new package is
uploaded.... /me wanted to continue to explain how the bts and new uploads
work and bla but since your key is in the debian-keyring chances are good
you know how it works :)
