CVS

CVS is an OpenSource version-control system. It helps groups of people stay up-to-date on a project, by (more or less) taking care of project history, developer communications, change synchronization, and source code distribution. CVS is currently maintained by a coalition of developers coordinated by the good folks at Cyclic Software.

If you don't already know how to use CVS, you may find this introduction helpful. I wrote it for my coworkers at onShore, but anyone familiar with command-line Unix and the Internet should be able to get the hang of CVS from reading it.
