Comment:

 Reading Julian's email, his criticism would seem to apply to chapter 4...
 but he also wrote that criticism a year before the svnbook was even
 published.  The branching/merging chapter has long had a special
 'changesets' box that explains the idea of a revision number being both a
 'state of the repository' and a 'name of a change made'.

 I don't think this sort of thing can be explained in the 'fundamental
 concepts' chapter at the beginning of the book, because that chapter
 doesn't even come close to talking about using the -r switch, backdating
 working copies, etc.
