The advice to redirect output to /dev/null to make the scripts complete
"instantly" from the client's perspective is only valid if the command
also ends with a &

At least, that was my experience on Ubuntu.

Sorry I couldn't provide a patch, I don't read xml so I have no idea how
to escape a & character.

This may seem obvious but maybe also you should mention that this advice
is not applicable to Windows.
